When Anthony and I started our legal transcription business we had no idea how much it would impact our family. Finding an exciting career with no ceiling on growth was great, but more importantly than that was the freedom it gave us.
While I had worked from home for years, Anthony had a traditional job in an office. That meant scheduling vacations, time off to take care of kids, attend events, etc. You know the deal. As a matter of fact, he had just been laid off from a long engineering career when the company he worked for decided to close and move half way across the country. We couldn’t move our family, so we took the time for him to figure out what he wanted to do. It was a pure coincidence while on a planned vacation that he ran into a transcription opportunity while in the FL Keys!
He quickly fell in love and we decided to start the company and take on multiple clients. Shortly after that our daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. She was in the hospital a couple of hours away for months and we were able to take turns staying there while still completing work. We were blessed to be able to spend that time with her before she passed away, while still providing for our other children.
Since then we’ve done work while traveling all over for our kids, vacations, and even a second home in another state. As long as we have Internet service to download and upload files, we are good to go. Even if that means hitting a restaurant to use their Wifi to grab and submit files quickly.
The transcription business changed our lives allowing us to be there for our kids all the way through college, no matter where they were. That’s one of the reasons we wanted to share the training materials with others, so they have the chance to create the life they want as well.
